Jieun Beth
: Jieun Beth is an Austin, Texas-based Visual Artist. She was born in College Station, TX (1987) and lived in Chino Hill, CA, but she mostly grew up in South Korea. She says, “she belongs nowhere and belongs everywhere,” reflecting her nomadic journey of relocating every two years until she settled in Austin 10 years ago. This sense of no-belonging became the impetus for her artistic research in the idea of a Personal Identity, exploring themes ranging from a body to spirit, memory to personal truth, personal to collective, death and life, and singular to universal. Her artwork for the past decade reflects the evolution of her understanding by changing the medium, aesthetic, and approach in each series. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
