Support our Fire Recovery
We are asking for help from our community to raise $25,000

Dear Art Community,

Tragedy struck early Monday morning as a fire broke out in Big Medum’s gallery. The fire department responded quickly and put out the fire, but not before serious damage was done. Thankfully, no lives were lost in this incident, but one piece of art in the HodgeKerr exhibition was destroyed. Amazingly, all the rest of the works survived and appear to be in decent condition. We are working with a conservator to assess the remaining works and ensure they are ok.

As you can imagine, we are heartbroken by this unfortunate accident. This is only our second exhibition in our new home, and the HodgeKerr exhibition just opened to a wonderful reception last Friday! We’re doing everything we can to reopen soon. Still, we’re calculating at least two weeks of repairs and maintenance before we can resume the exhibition, hopefully with a renewed celebratory moment.

As we coordinate with property owners, property managers, and insurance to address the situation on their end, we’re in the tough position of having to fundraise to prepare for the many expenses that a situation like this brings while ensuring that our staff, the artists, and the space remain safe and unaffected. We are asking for help from our community to raise $25,000. We appreciate your support and thank you for any donation you can make; every dollar we receive will be instrumental in our recovery.
