BIG MEDIUM PROGRAMMING



The East Austin Studio Tour is a self-guided tour which celebrates the rich wealth of talent of East Austin’s large and wildly diverse creative community.  Since 2003, artists on the east side have been opening their doors for the now annual East Austin Studio Tour, and has grown to include over 300 artist studios, art spaces, and events.  The 2012 EAST will be 10 – 18 November. 

Big Medium is excited to announce the first annual West Austin Studio Tour. WEST will cover a wide geographical area, and just as non-homogenous as Austin itself, the broad range of work will reflect the eclectic breadth of artists working west of I35. On the weekend of 19 & 20 May, we invite you to explore artist studios, exhibition spaces, and take part in a multitude of diverse art events.

The Texas Biennial's aim is to provide an independent survey of contemporary Texas art. The 2013 Biennial will take place simultaneously in venues in several Texas cities. The Texas Biennial has also invited other non-profit arts venues across the state to support the Biennial with their own independently curated exhibitions and programming, all focused on contemporary Texas art. This aspect of the project is intended as a celebration not only of Texas artists, but of the creativity and dedication of Texas arts organizations.
