Big Medium is pleased to partner with Art From The Ashes, a non-profit organization with a mission to support communities devastated by natural disasters through the creation of art.
A benefit art exhibition is planned for spring 2012 which will support reforestation in Bastrop county as well as community programming for those who suffered terrible losses in the recent fires in Bastrop. This is AFTA's first project in Texas, and we're thrilled that they are dedicating this project to Bastrop relief. The works in the fundraising exhibition will be created with reclaimed materials from the site location of the disaster, incorporating them into one of a kind works of art. Twisted metal, wood, glass, ash, and found objects become sculptures, paintings, ceramics. Other works will examine the disaster through the photographic lens. Every work of art tells a story and captures the heart of a place in time and history. Proceeds from the sale of art will be donated to the affected community to aid in their recovery process. In the wake of devastation and destruction, these works of art symbolize one's ability to renew, rebuild and persevere.
